Radio Maintenance Unit
The Radio Maintenance Unit is responsible for the operational readines of over 1300 pieces of communications devices such as mobile and portable two-way radios, repeaters, base stations, dispatch consoles, helicopter video downlink, and many specialized systems. Like many specialized units within the Alachua County Sheriff's office, the radio technology unit is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Alachua County Sheriff's Office is a partner in a countywide radio program. This system utilizes VHF high band, UHF and 800 megahertz (MHz) frequency bands to communicate with first responders in the field, and to provide mutual aid communications with adjoining jurisdictions.
The Radio Unit is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all Alachua County radio equipment.
