ASO Programs
The Alachua County Sheriff's Office offers a variety of safety and education programs to the public, which cover such topics as gun safety, emergency center operation, juvenille programs and much more. Here is a listing of the programs currently provided by ASO:
- Explorer Program (Juvenille)
- The aim of the Explorer Post is to explore law enforcement as a possible career choice, develop leadership skills, and to provide service to the community.
- Safety Patrol Annual DC Field Trip (Juvenille)
- The Safety Patrol takes a field trip to Washington DC every year. Here's some info and a photo gallery of their trip.
- Other Juvenile Programs
- There are several other programs offered, including Teen Court, SHOCAP, Operation Bluebird, Fishing For Success and Operation Spring Break
- False Alarm Reduction
- ASO is seeking to help local merchants understand the problems created by falsely-triggered building alarms, and offers material and information to help them reduce costly false alarms when possible.
- Fingerprinting
- ASO offers finger printing services to the public through this program, maintained by our Records Bureau.
- Gun Safety
- Every parent should talk to their children about guns if they keep firearms in their residence. This program offers some tips and links to help you understand gun laws.
- Beat the Heat
- ASO's "Beat the Heat" is a vehicle safety program which utilizes a modified, out of service ACSO patrol vehicle to educate the community on the dangers of illegal racing on public streets, highways and other inappropriate roadways.
