Beat The Heat
Alachua County Sheriff's Office "Beat the Heat" is a vehicle safety program which utilizes a modified, out of service ACSO patrol vehicle to educate the community on the dangers of illegal racing on public streets, highways and other inappropriate roadways. Equitably shared monies from Federal Drug Investigation forfeiture proceeds were utilized for the purchase of components and modification of the vehicle. These funds provided by the government are earmarked for new projects, such as this one, that target drug and alcohol education and prevention. The trailer that is utilized to house and transport the program vehicle was seized and subsequently forfeited during an auto theft ring investigation. At no time are any tax dollars expended to fund this program.
