Operation Blue Bird is a public awareness program designed to remind the motoring public to not pass a school bus while it is loading or unloading. Florida statue 316.172 prohibits the passing of a school bus while the red lights are flashing. Motorists can only pass a school bus with the red lights flashing if they (the motorist) is going in the opposite direction with a raised barrier or 5 foot raised median between them and the bus. Questions regarding Operation Blue Bird can be directed to (352) 367-4099.
